Die Falaj 3 ist etwas \u00fcber 60 Meter lang, verdr\u00e4ngt bei Volllast rund 670 Tonnen und wird von einer Besatzung von nur 39 Mann bedient. Die meisten Schiffe dieser Klasse verf\u00fcgen \u00fcber ein einzelnes Gesch\u00fctz und, wenn sie Gl\u00fcck haben, \u00fcber eine schultergest\u00fctzte Flugabwehrrakete. Die Falaj 3 hingegen ist mit einem mehrstufigen Flugabwehrsystem, Seezielflugk\u00f6rpern, Schwarmabwehrraketen und moderner elektronischer Schutzausr\u00fcstung ausgestattet \u2013 der Ausr\u00fcstung eines Frontkampfschiffs.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Im Bugbereich befindet sich eine 76-mm-Super-Rapid-Kanone vom Typ Leonardo mit dem STRALES-System. Sie verschie\u00dft funkgesteuerte DART-Munition, die sowohl man\u00f6vrierf\u00e4hige \u00dcberschallraketen als auch schnelle Angriffsboote bek\u00e4mpfen kann \u2013 und das zu einem Bruchteil der Kosten eines dedizierten Abfangj\u00e4gers. Weiter achtern bildet ein 21-Zellen-Starter f\u00fcr die RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile eine zweite, unabh\u00e4ngige Nahbereichsverteidigungsebene \u2013 zwei vollst\u00e4ndige Luftverteidigungssysteme auf einem Rumpf, den die meisten Marinen mit nahezu keiner Bewaffnung ausstatten w\u00fcrden.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Die Offensivbewaffnung ist ebenso leistungsf\u00e4hig: Vier MM40 Exocet Block 3C Seezielflugk\u00f6rper mit einer Reichweite von rund 240 Kilometern sowie zwei Zw\u00f6lf-Zellen-Startrampen f\u00fcr LOGIR-Lenkraketen zur kosteng\u00fcnstigen Bek\u00e4mpfung von Drohnen und unbemannten Booten. Zwei ferngesteuerte 30-mm-Waffenstationen und Rheinmetall MASS-T\u00e4uschk\u00f6rperwerfer vervollst\u00e4ndigen die Nahbereichsverteidigung. Der Persische Golf ist ein begrenztes Meer, in dem K\u00e4mpfe auf kurze Distanz und unter st\u00e4ndiger Bedrohung durch Raketen, Drohnen, Hubschrauber und Schw\u00e4rme von Schnellbooten stattfinden. Die Konzentration maximaler Feuerkraft in einem kleinen, vergleichsweise kosteng\u00fcnstigen Rumpf erm\u00f6glicht es einer Marine, f\u00fcr dasselbe Geld mehr Kampfschiffe einzusetzen \u2013 eine Philosophie, die die Falaj 3 bis an ihre Grenzen ausreizt.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Die von Abu Dhabi Ship Building, einem Unternehmen der Edge Group aus den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten, gebaute und auf dem Patrouillenboot der Fearless-Klasse aus Singapur basierende Altaf wurde im Februar 2025 in Dienst gestellt. Edge baut acht weitere Schiffe dieses Typs f\u00fcr Kuwait.
