TASACK: Poland’s Point-and-Click Loitering Munition

The problem with the FPV attack drone — the weapon that has defined three years of fighting in Ukraine — is that it needs a pilot. Not a technician, a pilot: somebody who can fly a fast, twitchy quadcopter into a moving target through a laggy video feed, in wind, under jamming. Those people take months to train and they are not interchangeable.

A Polish company called FlyFocus showed a different answer at Kielce this week. Its new loitering munition, TASACK, unveiled on 8 September at MSPO 2026, is built so that the operator does not fly it at all. They point at a target on a screen and click.

Point and click

The interface is the whole argument. A conventional FPV strike drone is flown manually into its target, which is why armies burn so much training time on operators. TASACK’s operator selects a target on screen and the aircraft handles the run-in.

Behind that sits a stabilised electro-optical and infrared gimbal doing identification and tracking, and it lets the munition come at a target from whatever geometry the mission wants — a flat, direct trajectory at one extreme, a near-vertical dive at the other. That top-attack option matters against armour, where the roof is thinner than the front.

FlyFocus claims a targeting accuracy of one metre CEP50 — meaning half of all strikes land within a metre of the aim point. Navigation is GPS with inertial guidance as the backup, and radio-based navigation available as an option, which is a sensible set of answers in an environment where satellite navigation is jammed as a matter of routine.

Built without Chinese parts, on purpose

Most of TASACK is made in Poland, including the gimbal — and that is a deliberate position rather than a marketing line. Much of the European drone industry still leans on Chinese-made batteries and flight controllers. FlyFocus has built its product line around NATO-aligned components since it was founded in 2017.

That decision costs money up front and buys supply-chain certainty later, which is exactly the trade European defence ministries have spent the last three years learning to care about. In February the company raised its first institutional funding round, €4.5 million led by ffVC with participation from the NCBR Investment Fund, Poland’s state research and development investment arm — partly to build a new manufacturing facility in Poland.

One interface, four aircraft

TASACK is not a first attempt. FlyFocus already fields the Polaris reconnaissance drone, the tethered CableGuard surveillance system, and Striker — a deep-strike loitering munition in a completely different weight class, with a stated range beyond 1,000 kilometres and a payload of up to 40 kilograms, tested near Kyiv in June with what the company describes as positive feedback from Ukrainian operators.

All four share a common ground control interface. That is the quiet part of the pitch and possibly the most valuable: a soldier trained on one system does not start from zero on the next. Both the Polish and Ukrainian defence ministries are already FlyFocus customers, and the company says its systems have been used in Ukraine under combat conditions.

TASACK is due to reach production readiness in the first quarter of 2027. Whether it works as advertised is a question for people with a range and a stopwatch. But the direction of travel is unmistakable: the cheap strike drone is being deskilled, deliberately, so that the limiting factor stops being how many operators you can train and becomes how many aircraft you can build.
