That is the problem Ukraine's newest interceptor drone was built to solve, and according to its maker it has now solved it twice. On 3 October 2026, Ukrainian company SkyFall told Militarnyi that its P1-SUN JetKiller had destroyed a second Russian Geran-5, a small jet-powered cruise missile.<\/p>\n<p>The kill was made by drone operators of Lasar's Group, a unit of Ukraine's National Guard, just days after the same team claimed the first-ever JetKiller kill of a Geran-5 on 30 September. A short clip of the second interception began circulating on X on the evening of 2 October.<\/p>\n<p>It is a small engagement with big implications. SkyFall gives the P1-SUN JetKiller a top speed of up to 370 km\/h. The Geran-5 it is hunting cruises at roughly 450 to 600 km\/h, according to figures published by United24 Media. In a tail chase, the interceptor would simply fall behind.<\/p>\n<p>So it does not chase. According to Militarnyi, the JetKiller is flown onto a head-on, crossing course, placing itself in the missile's path and letting the target close the distance. United24 describes it as weighing around 850 kg at take-off, with a range of up to 950 km and about two hours of endurance. Its jet engine makes it far faster than the propeller-driven Geran-2, the Russian version of Iran's Shahed-136.<\/p>\n<p>Speed is the point. Ukraine's air defence network was built up over the past few years to swat slow, noisy Shahed-type drones with machine guns, mobile fire teams and cheap interceptor drones. An interceptor drone costs a tiny fraction of a surface-to-air missile or an air-to-air missile fired from a fighter.
