Son atout majeur r\u00e9sidait dans ses pales de soufflante l\u00e9g\u00e8res en fibre de carbone, mais celles-ci se bris\u00e8rent lors des tests de r\u00e9sistance aux impacts d&#039;oiseaux, contraignant Rolls-Royce \u00e0 revenir au titane, plus lourd. Les co\u00fbts s&#039;envol\u00e8rent, les d\u00e9lais s&#039;allonge\u00e8rent et, en 1971, le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre motoriste fit faillite, entra\u00eenant dans sa chute tout le programme TriStar.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Ces mois perdus furent fatals. La production s&#039;est arr\u00eat\u00e9e en 1984 et le TriStar est devenu le dernier avion de ligne commercial de Lockheed\u00a0; l&#039;entreprise s&#039;est alors recentr\u00e9e sur le secteur militaire, son domaine de pr\u00e9dilection. Pourtant, ceux qui ont vol\u00e9 \u00e0 bord du L-1011 en gardent un souvenir \u00e9mu, et son bilan de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 \u00e9tait sup\u00e9rieur \u00e0 celui de son concurrent.
