Depuis les Alpes suisses, les vents les ont port\u00e9s au-dessus de l&#039;Europe, puis de l&#039;Afrique, de l&#039;Asie et du Pacifique, avant de les ramener finalement sur Terre en traversant l&#039;Atlantique. Les six br\u00fbleurs qui maintenaient le ballon \u00e0 temp\u00e9rature fonctionnaient au propane transport\u00e9 dans des bouteilles le long de la nacelle, et, dans les derniers jours, l&#039;\u00e9quipage g\u00e9rait ses r\u00e9serves qui s&#039;amenuisaient \u00e0 travers l&#039;Atlantique. Ils \u00e9taient partis avec pr\u00e8s de quatre tonnes de propane\u00a0; \u00e0 leur arriv\u00e9e en \u00c9gypte, il n&#039;en restait \u00e0 peine que 40 kilogrammes. En 2016, il r\u00e9it\u00e9ra l&#039;exploit \u00e0 bord de Solar Impulse, un a\u00e9ronef qui vola jour et nuit gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la seule \u00e9nergie solaire, bouclant ainsi un parcours personnel remarquable, du ballon \u00e0 l&#039;avion solaire.
