The company describes the FWD Supreme as an aircraft that can fly and make mission-related decisions using artificial intelligence, with minimal human intervention. That puts it in a different category from a remotely piloted drone, where a human on the ground flies the aircraft and pulls the trigger.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The headline numbers are design goals, not demonstrated performance. FWDA says the Supreme Heavy variant is a one-tonne-class aircraft, and reports quote a payload of up to about 350 kg, a speed of around Mach 0.85 and a range of about 1,500 km. FWDA calls its concept the Mobbing Doctrine: instead of one expensive fighter, several cheap AI-controlled jets attack a high-value target together, coordinating with each other. The same thinking drives America's Collaborative Combat Aircraft programme and Europe's loyal-wingman projects. FWDA's argument is that India should build its own version rather than buy one.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The company also says the aircraft will use visual navigation to keep flying when GPS is jammed, and it has announced a partnership with the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru on data encryption. When we first wrote about the programme on 1 July, FWDA said the Lite would fly before the end of the third quarter of 2026. That deadline has now passed. According to the company, the Lite has completed taxi trials and is preparing for its maiden flight, but no date has been announced.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>That is not unusual for a start-up building its first aircraft, and FWDA has been open about where it stands.
