Its digital radar warning receiver detects and classifies the electromagnetic signals a threat radar emits, while a jammer built on digital radio-frequency memory (DRFM) generates tailored responses designed to spoil a missile lock. Crucially, the whole system is mounted internally, so it consumes no weapons station and adds no drag, though L3Harris also offers an identical-hardware pod for operators mixing new and upgraded jets.<\/p>\r\n<p>The design goal is longevity as much as raw performance. L3Harris built the suite around commercial 3U processing hardware and a small number of line-replaceable units, which lowers weight, improves reliability and lets maintainers swap modules in the field. The FAP currently fields a mix of Mirage 2000 and MiG-29 fighters, both introduced in the 1980s and 1990s and both increasingly difficult and expensive to keep flying. It places Peru inside a growing community of operators flying a common EW architecture. L3Harris says eight countries have now selected the suite, among them Bahrain, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Morocco, Taiwan and Poland, and the company is ramping production toward a target of roughly 233 systems. Bahrain flew the internal variant on a Block 70 for the first time in February 2025 at Edwards Air Force Base.<\/p>\r\n<p>Shared architecture means shared upgrades. As threat radars and surface-to-air systems evolve, a software-defined jammer can be updated across a coalition of users rather than one air force at a time.
