The scheduled block time reached 16 hours and 5 minutes at launch and has since stretched to as much as 16 hours 45 minutes, which is the sort of sector where the aircraft spends more of the day airborne than on the ground.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>It ran three to five times a week, usually with a Boeing 787-9. That is a capable aircraft for the distance, but not a generous one. The aircraft is tied up for the better part of two days per rotation. And the whole thing leans on premium cabins, because economy fares do not cover sixteen hours of burn.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Move any one of those variables and the route stops working. Fuel goes up. A competitor adds a one-stop at a lower fare. Corporate travel softens on the segment. Route launches come with press releases, executives, ribbon cuttings and a water cannon salute. Route cancellations come from schedule filings, noticed by people who watch schedule filings.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Which is fair enough commercially, and slightly disorienting as a reader: the same route that was a strategic Pacific gateway in 2024 vanishes in 2027 without a sentence of explanation.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Passengers between Canada and Singapore will be connecting again.
