KLM says it will use a different mix of large and small aircraft in Europe. The A321neo, which KLM already flies, stays. But instead of the A320s it had planned to add, it will take more Embraer E195-E2s, which are flown by its regional subsidiary KLM Cityhopper.<\/p>\n<p>The logic is simple: with more small jets, KLM can match seats to demand route by route, instead of putting bigger jets on thinner routes. About 5,000 roles have been, or will be, organised differently. Of those, 1,250 catering jobs have been run with gategroup since this spring, around 800 ground services jobs will move to an external company, and about 2,000 jobs, including 1,500 at the Cygnific customer contact centre, will move to Air France-KLM.<\/p>\n<p>The roughly 1,000 jobs that remain are the ones that simply go, through higher productivity. KLM says it hopes to limit the impact through natural turnover, voluntary measures and transfers.
