A partire dagli anni &#039;80, la Greenland Expedition Society, guidata dal pilota Pat Epps e dall&#039;architetto Richard Taylor, organizz\u00f2 una spedizione dopo l&#039;altra per ritrovarli. Il 1\u00b0 agosto 1992, l&#039;ultima sezione principale, un blocco di tre tonnellate della struttura centrale, emerse alla luce del sole. Da allora, continua a entusiasmare il pubblico delle manifestazioni aeree: un Lightning che ha trascorso mezzo secolo come un fossile ed \u00e8 tornato in vita.<\/p><p>I suoi compagni di squadriglia sono ancora laggi\u00f9. Le squadre di recupero continuano a lavorare per riportare in superficie un secondo P-38 della Squadriglia Perduta, soprannominato &quot;Echo&quot;, da sotto lo stesso ghiaccio.
