It carries up to 165 kg, and by design moves more than 100 kg over roughly 680 kilometres.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company is not new to this. Zuri says it has flown more than fifteen aircraft since 2018 and held a full-scale hover back in 2021. What is new is the decision to stop building five-seat air-taxi concepts for people and start building a smaller, uncrewed workhorse for cargo &mdash; the thing customers will actually pay for first.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<div style=\"position:relative;padding-bottom:56.25%;height:0;overflow:hidden;margin:24px 0\"><iframe class=\"skip-lazy\" data-no-lazy=\"1\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ruTtvMKQpQM\" style=\"position:absolute;top:0;left:0;width:100%;height:100%;border:0;border-radius:8px\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The hybrid-electric choice is the tell. Pure-battery VTOLs are range-limited; a combustion range-extender turning a generator lets the aircraft cross real distances while still landing on a pad, a deck or open ground. It is a pragmatic answer to the eVTOL industry&rsquo;s hardest problem: getting useful payload a useful distance.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<div style=\"background:#f8f9fa;border-left:4px solid #1565c0;padding:20px 22px;margin:18px 0 24px;border-radius:0 8px 8px 0;font-size:16px;line-height:1.7;display:flex;gap:20px;align-items:flex-start\"><div><em>&ldquo;We spent nine years and fifteen aircraft teaching ourselves what this architecture can do. The uncrewed cargo VTOL is the first one we are building for someone else to fly.&rdquo;<\/em><div style=\"margin-top:10px;font-size:14px;color:#555\"><strong>Michal Illich<\/strong> &mdash; Founder and CEO, Zuri<\/div><\/div><\/div>\r\n<h2 style=\"padding-top:22px\">Still a design, not yet a delivery<\/h2>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A caveat worth stating plainly: the aircraft shown at the unveiling is a design heading toward flight, not a machine already hauling freight. Zuri plans to fly its Technology Demonstrator 2.0 in early 2027, followed by a roughly nine-month flight-test campaign. A first tranche of a EUR 6 million Series A round is meant to carry it through that programme.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Plenty of eVTOL startups have unveiled beautiful renderings and then run out of runway.
