Refuelling a Rafale worked because both sides speak the same physical language: probe-and-drogue. The Rafale's fixed refuelling probe slides into a basket streamed from the tanker's hose, no adapters required.<\/p><p style=\"margin:0 0 18px\">That compatibility is why the pairing was, in hindsight, almost inevitable. The same logic already runs the other way around the world: India's Russian-built Il-78 tankers routinely top up its French Rafales.
