Fill 250 or 300 seats across several fare classes and you need a big local market or a connecting bank feeding it. That is why transatlantic flying concentrates on a handful of hub pairs, and why secondary cities get routed through them.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>A single-aisle A321neo with 76 flat beds needs something else entirely: not volume, but a reliable supply of people who will pay business fares. Get that and the route works at a fraction of the traffic a widebody would demand. La Compagnie currently operates two A321LRs. Adding D&uuml;sseldorf to Paris Orly, Nice and Milan Malpensa is not a marginal schedule change for an operation that size, which is why the route is tied to new metal: an A321LR arriving in 2027, and an A321XLR during 2028.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The XLR matters more than the LR. Its extra range is what turns a marginal transatlantic single-aisle route into a comfortable one, and it is the aircraft that will decide whether this model can keep expanding east into Europe.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Spring 2027 is a long way off, and announced routes have a habit of quietly not happening.
