The twin-engine widebody is big enough to carry premium cabins and useful belly cargo, yet not so large that the airline has to fill a jumbo&rsquo;s worth of seats from day one. It is the classic tool for opening a route you believe in but haven&rsquo;t proven yet.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-top:22px\">A gateway in the making<\/h2>\n<p>The upside for Almaty could be considerable. Central Asia has long been hard to reach from East Asia, and a clean direct line to a global hub like Hong Kong is exactly the sort of thing that turns a country from &ldquo;hard to get to&rdquo; into &ldquo;why not?&rdquo;.
