Every war the Djiboutian Air Force has fought
No source checked describes what the air force did in either war, and both entries say so rather than guess. The casualty figures of the June 2008 fighting at Ras Doumeira are Djibouti’s own and are given as Djibouti reported them; Eritrea’s account and figures were not found. Where a consolidated sortie or loss figure exists in the official record it is given here; where accounts disagree, the range is shown and the disagreement named. Blank cells are blank because no figure could be verified, not because the fighting was small.
From the FRUD insurgency of 1991–2001 to the border clash with Eritrea in 2008.

Not documented in the sources checked. The air force bought Mi-2, Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters in the early 1990s, as the war began, but no source reachable for this page describes their use. The insurgency began at the end of October 1991 in the north and west, with the Front for the Restoration of Unity and Democracy fighting the government of President Hassan Gouled Aptidon. Wikipedia records French troops deployed in the north in February 1992 in support of government forces, and French mediation. The same period saw the biggest expansion of the Djiboutian Air Force before or since — four Mi-2, six Mi-8 and two Mi-17 helicopters and an An-28 transport, according to Wikipedia’s armed forces article — and helicopters are the obvious tool for moving troops and supplies in that terrain. But no source found for this page says what the air force actually did in the war, and so this entry records only that it existed and was equipped. An armed FRUD faction remained active afterwards: a 2022 La Nation report on an air exercise cited the threat from the armed FRUD group in the west. 结果 A peace agreement with the main FRUD faction on 26 December 1994 ended most of the fighting; a final accord followed on 12 May 2001, and FRUD became a political party. The air force’s role, sorties and losses in this war are UNVERIFIED and not published here. Casualty figures are Wikipedia’s.

Not documented in the sources checked; no use of aircraft by either side is recorded. The clash at Ras Doumeira, where the border meets the Bab el-Mandeb, began on 10 June 2008 when, by Djibouti’s account, Eritrean forces opened fire on Djiboutian troops, and lasted until 13 June. Eritrea’s own account was not found in the sources checked. The figures that circulate are Djibouti’s: 44 of its soldiers killed and 55 wounded, with about 100 Eritreans killed. The UN Security Council, in Resolution 1862 of 14 January 2009, demanded that Eritrea withdraw, and in Resolution 1907 of 23 December 2009 imposed an arms embargo, a travel ban and asset freezes on Eritrea, per Wikipedia. The dispute dragged on through Qatari mediation and a Qatari withdrawal in 2017, when Djibouti accused Eritrea of reoccupying the area, and eased only with the regional thaw of 2018. Nothing in the sources checked shows whether the small Djiboutian Air Force flew during the fighting. 结果 Fighting stopped on 13 June 2008. UN Security Council Resolution 1862 (14 January 2009) demanded Eritrea withdraw, and Resolution 1907 (23 December 2009) imposed sanctions on Eritrea. Qatar mediated from 2010 until its peacekeepers left in June 2017; the two states agreed to normalise relations in September 2018. Eritrea’s official position and casualty figures were not found in the sources checked. The air force’s role is UNVERIFIED.
