Sie wurde wegen unbezahlter Schulden beschlagnahmt, und damit verschwand die letzte direkte Flugverbindung zwischen Simbabwe und Gro\u00dfbritannien \u2013 eine Strecke, die die Fluggesellschaft seit April 1980 bedient hatte.<\/p>\r\n<p>Am Mittwoch wird diese Verbindung wiederhergestellt. Die Flugnummern von Air Zimbabwe kehren nach vierzehn Jahren dreimal w\u00f6chentlich auf die Abflugtafeln in Gatwick zur\u00fcck, beginnend mit einem Airbus A330, der am Montag in Harare landete.<\/p>\r\n<p>Das Flugzeug hingegen ist spanisch. Air Zimbabwe darf mit ihren eigenen Flugzeugen nicht in den britischen oder europ\u00e4ischen Luftraum einfliegen. Die Fluggesellschaft steht seit 2017 auf der EU-Liste der unsicheren Fluggesellschaften, woraufhin das britische Flugverbot folgte.<\/p>\r\n<p>Das Problem der Sicherheitseinstufung wurde also nicht gel\u00f6st. Man hat es durch Vermietung umgangen.<\/p>\r\n<p>Im Rahmen eines ACMI-Wet-Lease-Vertrags (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, Insurance) wird der Flug von Plus Ultra L\u00edneas A\u00e9reas, einer spanischen Fluggesellschaft, mit einem in Spanien registrierten A330 durchgef\u00fchrt, der von spanischer Besatzung unter spanischer Aufsicht geflogen wird. Air Zimbabwe verkauft die Tickets, verwendet ihren eigenen Flugcode und ihr eigenes Branding und betreut die Passagiere. Rechtlich gesehen betreibt Plus Ultra das Flugzeug.<\/p>\r\n<p>Es handelt sich um ein v\u00f6llig normales Flugzeugger\u00e4t, das \u00fcberall zum Einsatz kommt, von den Charterhochs im Sommer bis hin zu Flottenstilllegungen. Die wohlwollendere \u2013 und vermutlich zutreffendere \u2013 Deutung ist, dass ein Land mit einer gro\u00dfen Diaspora in Gro\u00dfbritannien gerade eine Direktverbindung zur\u00fcckerhalten hat und es den Passagieren, die am Mittwoch einsteigen, ziemlich egal sein wird, wessen Luftverkehrsbetreiberlizenz auf den Papieren steht.<\/p>\r\n<p>Die Strecke von Harare nach Gatwick betr\u00e4gt rund 8.200 Kilometer. Bisher bedeutete die Reise einen Zwischenstopp in Johannesburg, Addis Abeba, Nairobi oder Dubai, was mit entsprechendem Zeit- und Kostenaufwand verbunden war. In diesem Zeitraum muss Air Zimbabwe nachweisen, dass die Strecke dreimal w\u00f6chentlich einen A330 auslasten kann und die Kosten eines Wet-Leases deckt \u2013 die pro Stunde deutlich h\u00f6her sind als beim Betrieb eines eigenen Flugzeugs, da man die Besatzung, die Wartung und die Versicherung eines anderen sowie dessen Gewinn bezahlt.<\/p>\r\n<p>Der Starttermin wurde bereits einmal verschoben, vom 1. Juli auf den 22. Juli. Und das zugrundeliegende Problem besteht weiterhin: Um mit eigenen Flugzeugen nach Europa fliegen zu k\u00f6nnen, m\u00fcsste Air Zimbabwe von der EU-Liste f\u00fcr sichere Luftfahrtunternehmen gestrichen werden.
