Luftk\u00e4mpfe waren ihr nicht gewachsen. Und drei\u00dfig Jahre lang, wenn das Wetter umschlug und das Ziel unter Wolken und Dunkelheit verborgen lag, die alles andere am Boden hielten, schickte die US Navy die Grumman A-6 Intruder. Unterschallf\u00e4hig, mit stumpfer Nase und kantigen Seiten, war die Intruder das Flugzeug, das selbst in der dunkelsten Nacht ein Ziel finden und eine Bombe durch dessen Fenster werfen konnte \u2013 und dabei unversehrt zur\u00fcckkehrte.<\/p><p>Die Piloten liebten sie gerade deshalb, weil sie h\u00e4sslich und ehrlich war. Das Herzst\u00fcck der Intruder war DIANE \u2013 das digitale integrierte Angriffsnavigationssystem \u2013, ein System, das Gel\u00e4nde und Ziel auf einem Bildschirm darstellte, sodass die Besatzung auch bei Nullsicht angreifen konnte. Pilot und Bombensch\u00fctze\/Navigator sa\u00dfen nebeneinander, so nah beieinander, dass sie sich im Dunkeln einen Blick zuwerfen konnten.<\/p><p>Sie wurde 1963 in Dienst gestellt und war der erste wirklich allwettertaugliche Angriffsbomber der Geschichte. Sie war langsam und hatte keine Bordkanone. Das k\u00fcmmerte sie nicht. Ihre Aufgabe war es, bis zu neun Tonnen Bombenlast \u00fcber weite Strecken, nachts und bei jedem Wetter, pr\u00e4zise abzuwerfen. Sie flog Missionen, die kein anderes Flugzeug bew\u00e4ltigen konnte \u2013 und zwar tief, mitten hinein in die schwersten Luftverteidigungsanlagen der Welt. In der Nacht des 30. Oktober 1967 durchbrach eine einzelne Intruder mit Charles Hunter und Lyle Bull an Bord das Feuer von zehn Boden-Luft-Raketen, um die F\u00e4hranleger von Hanoi aus n\u00e4chster N\u00e4he zu treffen. Beide M\u00e4nner wurden mit dem Navy Cross ausgezeichnet. 84 Intruder kehrten aus diesem Krieg nicht zur\u00fcck.<\/p>\r\n<div style=\"max-width:550px;margin:0 auto 28px\"><iframe class=\"skip-lazy\" data-no-lazy=\"1\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/Tweet.html?id=1472748110850019331&theme=light\" style=\"width:100%;height:520px;border:none;border-radius:12px;overflow:hidden\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\r\n<p>Die Flugzeugzelle erwies sich als unendlich anpassungsf\u00e4hig. Die KA-6D verwandelte sie in ein Tankflugzeug, das mit einem Schlauch durstige Maschinen betankte. <a href=\"https:\/\/migflug.com\/jetflights\/de\/flugzeug\/f-14-tomcat\/\">F-14 Tomcats<\/a>. Aus dem elektronischen Kampfflugzeug EA-6A entwickelte sich die viersitzige EA-6B Prowler, die vier Jahrzehnte lang als St\u00f6rsender der Marine diente. Ihr geplanter Nachfolger, die getarnte A-12 Avenger II, scheiterte jedoch an Kosten\u00fcberschreitungen und wurde eingestellt. Anstatt die Intruder zu ersetzen, musterte die Marine sie einfach aus: das Marine Corps 1993, die Marine 1997. Ein ehemaliger A-6-Pilot namens Stephen Coonts verarbeitete seine beiden Kampfeins\u00e4tze zu einem Roman., <em>Flucht des Eindringlings<\/em>, Das Buch verbrachte achtundzwanzig Wochen auf der Bestsellerliste und wurde verfilmt.
