Ihr Erstflug fand 1964 statt, die Indienststellung 1966, und sie war einfach unerm\u00fcdlich im Einsatz.<\/p><p>Im Laufe ihrer Dienstzeit absolvierte die Greyhound \u00fcber 250.000 Landungen auf Flugzeugtr\u00e4gern und transportierte \u00fcber 100 Millionen Pfund Fracht. Sie ersetzt die kopf\u00fcber auf das Schiff aufschlagende Landung der Greyhound durch eine senkrechte Landung und eine gr\u00f6\u00dfere Reichweite. Sie erreicht das Schiff schneller und ben\u00f6tigt weder Katapult noch Fangseil. Was sie jedoch nicht kann, ist die Greyhound zu ersetzen \u2013 und genau das ist f\u00fcr die Generation von Seeleuten, die jedes Mal jubelten, wenn eine Greyhound an Bord landete, der entscheidende Punkt.<\/p><p>Die letzte Flugzeugzelle wird restauriert und 2027 in Pensacola ausgestellt.
