Das bedeutete, einen Beobachter, Seekarten und ein sperriges Funkger\u00e4t mitzuf\u00fchren \u2013 und ihnen ausreichend Platz zum Arbeiten zu bieten. Der Konstrukteur von Blackburn nahm die Tragfl\u00e4chen und das Leitwerk des Torpedobombers Dart des Unternehmens und montierte sie an einen riesigen neuen Rumpf, der hoch genug war, um die gesamte Ausr\u00fcstung aufzunehmen. Einige Maschinen wurden zu zweisitzigen Schulflugzeugen umgebaut oder mit Schwimmern ausgestattet.
