General Atomics describes Wildfire as a next-generation medium-altitude, long-endurance system in the same class as the Reaper, but the company has pointedly refused to release a single image. So while much of the pre-reveal chatter pictured a stealthy flying-wing, the planform GA already flies on its jet-powered Avenger, nobody outside the company has confirmed what Wildfire looks like. Take vendor superlatives with the usual fistful of salt, because none of this is flying yet, and there are no drawings to check the claims against.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<div style=\"background:#f8f9fa;border-left:4px solid #5C91FF;padding:20px 22px;margin:18px 0 24px;border-radius:0 8px 8px 0;font-size:16px;line-height:1.7;display:flex;gap:20px;align-items:flex-start\"><div><em>&ldquo;That thing is a beast.&rdquo;<\/em><div style=\"margin-top:10px;font-size:14px;color:#555\"><strong>C. The solicitation went live on 7 July with a blunt target: a modular, theatre-range drone costing under $30 million a copy, cheap enough that sending it into contested airspace and losing a few is the plan, not the nightmare. Wildfire is GA's entry, though the company bristles at the Reaper-replacement label and insists the airframe is not dependent on the programme at all.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<div style=\"position:relative;padding-bottom:56.25%;height:0;overflow:hidden;margin:24px 0\"><iframe class=\"skip-lazy\" data-no-lazy=\"1\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/om6BxfTP0PM\" style=\"position:absolute;top:0;left:0;width:100%;height:100%;border:0;border-radius:8px\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\r\n\r\n<p style=\"font-size:13px;color:#777;text-align:center;font-style:italic;margin-top:-8px\">Context on where General Atomics' unmanned line was heading before Wildfire.<\/p>\r\n<p>The reason any of this exists is attrition. Reporting citing US officials puts Reaper losses at roughly 45 airframes, about a quarter of the fleet, since operations against Iran began on 28 February 2026 under the banner Operation Epic Fury. TWZ notes it cannot independently verify that figure. The MQ-9 line is now closed, so those jets cannot simply be reordered. We have already covered both the bleeding and the replacement question; Wildfire is the first concrete airframe to answer it. The Air Force says it will pick programme vendors by the end of 2026.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<div style=\"max-width:550px;margin:0 auto 28px\"><iframe class=\"skip-lazy\" data-no-lazy=\"1\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/Tweet.html?id=2090502379338895729&theme=light\" style=\"width:100%;height:400px;border:none;border-radius:12px;overflow:hidden\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\r\n\r\n<p>So: real programme, real losses, real name. Everything else, the shape, the specs, the price tag, is still General Atomics asking you to imagine.
