Alors que les forces arm\u00e9es scrutent les vastes \u00e9tendues du Pacifique, les atouts traditionnels des avions amphibies \u2013 grande autonomie, capacit\u00e9 d&#039;atterrissage sans piste, importante capacit\u00e9 d&#039;emport interne \u2013 sont de nouveau d&#039;actualit\u00e9. Le Catalina II est pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 comme un appareil adapt\u00e9 aux missions de recherche et de sauvetage, de patrouille maritime, de lutte contre les incendies et aux missions sp\u00e9ciales, avec une autonomie annonc\u00e9e de 19 heures et une capacit\u00e9 d&#039;emport de 30 soldats ou de 7\u00a0257 kg de fret.<\/p><p>Ce n&#039;est pas la seule tentative de relance\u00a0: une autre entreprise floridienne, la Catalina Aircraft Company de Vero Beach, d\u00e9veloppe un projet novateur plus ambitieux, baptis\u00e9 SPAR. L&#039;avenir de ces deux appareils reste incertain.
