Il Trofeo Schneider era quindi destinato alla Gran Bretagna e la competizione si concluse per sempre.<\/p><p>Sedici giorni dopo, il 29 settembre, il tenente di volo George Stainforth prese un altro S.6B e lo spinse a 407,5 miglia orarie (655 km\/h), la prima volta che un aereo superava le 400 miglia orarie. Per vincerlo, la Rolls-Royce dovette spremere una potenza inaudita dal suo motore &quot;R&quot;, introducendo valvole raffreddate al sodio e candele in grado di resistere a pressioni di sovralimentazione enormi. Ma senza il banco di prova del Trofeo Schneider, nessuno dei due avrebbe avuto un vantaggio cos\u00ec schiacciante all&#039;inizio.<\/p><p>Le gare terminarono nel 1931 e il loro trofeo fu riposto in una teca. La loro vera eredit\u00e0 prese il volo cinque anni dopo, con l&#039;aereo dipinto con la mimetica della RAF, e ancora oggi partecipa alle manifestazioni aeree.
