How much does it cost to fly a real MiG in Russia? Customers looking for an answer to this question usually refer to the MiG-29 flight – although there are still customers asking for MiG-25 flights, MiG-31 flights, or Sukhoi Su-27 Flanker flights. As we wrote in a blog post about this topic, unfortunately these legendary jets are no longer available for flights.

The MiG-29 flights are still available, however, and you can find the current pricing on our MiG-29 flight page.

What top speed and maximum altitude can I reach during the MiG-29 flight?

The MiG-29’s maximum speed is currently limited to Mach 1.7 during the Edge of Space flight, since the engines had to be replaced too frequently at higher speeds. This also limits the maximum altitude that can be reached. A second factor is air temperature – when the air is cold, the MiG-29 produces more thrust, allowing it to reach higher altitudes. This is why we recommend booking the Edge of Space flight in winter.

These are the maximum figures reached during recent flights. Speed and altitude used to be higher (22 km, Mach 1.9). And don’t worry – we don’t push all customers to 9.2g, the record reached so far. Typically, customers experience around 7.5g, but this really depends on the individual and how well they handle g-forces. Higher altitude is limited to 12 km during aerobatic flight programs, since the customer only wears a standard g-suit. Above 12 km, a high-altitude flight suit is required.
