Dynamic Pegasus: how the team came to be and what it flies today

7 Squadron’s dynamic show

Dynamic Pegasus grew out of a helicopter display that pilots of 7 Squadron (Skadron Udara 7) devised in 2010. The squadron, at Suryadarma Air Force Base at Kalijati in Subang, West Java, runs the air force’s basic helicopter pilot course and flies the Eurocopter EC120B Colibri. The first shows used three helicopters, at the Bandung Air Show of 2010; under Lieutenant Colonel Sapuan the routine grew to six helicopters and eleven manoeuvres.

Named in 2012

The name was adopted on 28 March 2012 when the Operations Command I staff watched a rehearsal at Kalijati, and the six-ship team made its official debut at the air force’s 66th anniversary at Halim Perdanakusuma on 9 April 2012. Indonesian Wikipedia lists later displays at Indo Defence 2012 and 2014, the centenary of flight in Indonesia in 2014, regional air shows and the air force anniversaries up to 2017.
