Chilean Naval Aviation has not fought a shooting war. In December 1978, when Argentina prepared and then called off Operation Soberanía against the islands south of the Beagle Channel, Infodefensa records that naval aircraft supported the Navy’s operations; no air missions are detailed in the sources checked, and there were no losses. The crisis ended in papal mediation and the 1984 Treaty of Peace and Friendship. Blank cells are blank because no figure could be verified.

Supported the Navy’s operations during the crisis with Argentina; no air combat took place. In December 1978 Argentina prepared to seize the islands south of the Beagle Channel. According to the English Wikipedia account, President Jorge Videla signed the order on 15 December, the landing was set for 22 December, the Chilean fleet sailed from the fjords of Hoste Island the same day, and the Argentine fleet turned back six hours before the landing when Pope John Paul II announced that he was sending Cardinal Antonio Samoré as mediator. Infodefensa’s history of Chilean naval aviation records that its aircraft supported operations during the crisis; the first three EMB-111 patrol aircraft had arrived that month. No details of naval air missions were found, and there was no fighting. Sonuç Argentina called off Operation Soberanía on 22 December 1978; papal mediation led to the 1984 Treaty of Peace and Friendship. The aircraft list is the types the service is recorded as having in December 1978, not a confirmed list of those that flew in the crisis.
