Uruguayan Air Force combat record

The Uruguayan Air Force in combat and peacekeeping

Uruguay’s air force has fought no foreign war. English Wikipedia records the only combat use of its aircraft in the revolution of 1935, a single-source claim whose details were not confirmed and are not given here. Since then it has flown for the United Nations: in Haiti, where a C-212 crashed on 9 October 2009 killing six Uruguayans and five Jordanians, and in the DR Congo, with Bell 212s since 2010. Where a consolidated sortie or loss figure exists in the official record it is given here; where accounts disagree, the range is shown and the disagreement named. Blank cells are blank because no figure could be verified, not because the fighting was small.

Bell 212 utility helicopters supporting the UN mission.

Zona Militar reported in July 2023 that FAU Bell 212s had served with MONUSCO since 2010 and described the unit as the only helicopter squadron in the mission able to fly at night. The United States has supported it under its Global Peace Operations Initiative, donating Bell 212s in 2021 and 2023, the second valued at about USD 2.76 million.

Resultaat Continuing at the time of the July 2023 report.

The night-flying claim is Zona Militar’s; whether the detachment remains deployed in 2026 was not confirmed.
