The story behind the numbers

The Mirage III made the delta wing famous in 1967: Israeli Mirages and their Nesher derivatives destroyed the Arab air forces’ fighters in the Six-Day War and finished the 1973 war with the highest per-airframe scores of the missile age — over a hundred kills in Israeli service, many by pilots who became the top jet aces of all time, led by Giora Epstein’s 17.

Pakistani, Argentine and other Mirages added their own chapters — over the Falklands the type met the Sea Harrier and lost, closing the ledger at roughly 100–220 kills against a few dozen losses. Dassault’s delta is, by ratio, one of the most successful fighters since 1945.

Israeli Mirage IIICJs claimed the bulk of Arab aircraft destroyed in the 1967 Six-Day War.

Campaign by campaign

1971 Indo-Pakistani War Pakistan 3 0 PAF Mirages claimed Canberras, a Su-7 and a Hunter with no losses reported.

How we count. Victories are credits recognised by the operating air force, cross-checked against opposing loss records where they exist. Where wartime credits and postwar research genuinely disagree we show the range, not a single number. Friendly-fire and accident losses are not counted as air-to-air losses.
