Tremendous Alpine Jet Flight near Munich

Starting from Bavaria - about 30 min from Munich - you can experience the Aermacchi S.211 in an action-packed jet flight in the stunningly beautiful Alps of South Germany. Thanks to access to a military training area, you can experience not only breakneck aerobatics and military maneuvers but also low-level flying in the incredible mountain landscape of the South German Alps. Visualize you flying through a narrow valley at a high speed and low altitude. It simply doesn't get better than that. Actually, it does, the pilot has a few more aces up his sleeves. For example a giant loop with 8000ft circumference. You will feel the G's there! You will be equipped with a full Airforce-Setup, flight suit, survival vest, Anti-G-pants, Helmet with Oxygen-Mask.

Flying the Aermacchi S.211 Fighter Jet

The Aermacchi S.211 is the most modern military Jet in our inventory and beside this, it guaranties you the best visual experience from the backseat. The Italian light attack aircraft and military jet trainer flies more like a fighter than an trainer. Beyond training, the S.211 has seen genuine operational service – part of what makes it feel like a real fighter: the Philippine Air Force armed its S.211s (nicknamed “Warrior”) with gun pods for light-attack and counter-insurgency missions, assigned the type to air defence after retiring its F-5 fighters in 2005, and still flies it on maritime patrol and reconnaissance over the contested South China Sea. It was recently developed into the fairly similar-looking Aermacchi M-345, the first production aircraft that had its maiden flight in 2018. The Italian Airforce will replace not only its MB-339 with it but also those of the celebrated Italian Frecce Tricolori aerobatic display team. Both aircraft are compact two-seaters with the same characteristic shoulder-wing monoplane design, giving them full aerobatic capability and excellent flight characteristics. And there is of course no better place in the world to experience those flight characteristics than over, between, and around mountains!

FAQ: Your questions about flights in Munich

General

Can I fly a real military jet in Germany?

Yes – near Munich you fly the S.211, a genuine military jet trainer and light attack aircraft, with a professional pilot. No licence is required, and stick time is part of the program.

Where in Germany can I fly a jet?

The S.211 operates from an airfield near Munich, with programs reaching into the Alps. Every MiGFlug jet and location worldwide is on the flights & prices overview.

Am I fit and healthy enough for an S.211 jet flight?

Most guests are. You just need to be in reasonable general health – no serious back, heart or spinal problems, blood pressure under control, and no pregnancy. Glasses or contacts are no problem. You’ll sign a short medical declaration on the day, and if you’re unsure it’s worth a quick word with your doctor first.

What is the maximum weight and height to fly a jet?
  • Weight: A bit of a belly is usually no problem – the limitation is the belt around the upper leg. We have done flights up to 253 pounds (115 kg).
  • Height: Long legs are usually no problem up to a point. If you have a long upper body we need a closer look from about 6ft 5 or 2.01 m. Chest 52″ (132 cm), waist 48″ (122 cm).
  • Seat height: If this applies to you, please let us know your “seat height” – when you sit down, the distance from the seating surface to the head tip.
Which requirements must I fulfill to fly a jet?
  • No flight skills required: Even as a layman you may take over the controls in the air and fly the aircraft yourself. For these purposes, you will be briefed beforehand on the ground. As a rule of thumb, the more flight experience a guest has the more liberties he will have in the air, and the more stick time he or she gets. Through an intercom system, you are in permanent contact with the pilot, and he can react to your condition during the flight.
  • Health: You must be in reasonable general health. Serious heart, mental or back problems as well as untreated hypertension (elevated blood pressure) might be an issue. In case of doubt, we strongly recommend to check with your doctor. Pregnancy is a no-go.
  • Flight day: Come rested, sober and receptive, and wear sturdy shoes that go over the ankles.
Can I bring friends & family along?

They are very welcome and will enjoy the day with you very much. Spectators can watch all the preparations from up close and will be impressed by the professionalism, the noise and the intensity of the program.

Do you do flights all year long?

Yes, we offer flights year-round. There is often a month or so of annual maintenance, which usually takes place in winter. But this depends on the location. Check the availability.

What is the age limit to fly a fighter jet?

The minimum age requirement for flying in Munich is 14 years old, and parents have to agree to the flight below the age of 18. There is no upper limit as long as the customer is in reasonable general health. We have had a customer who was almost 97 years old!

What is the availability for S.211 jet flights near Munich?

Live availability is shown on our booking page, where you can choose a specific date and time, or book an open date and schedule later. Dates are limited and popular slots fill first, so the earlier you book the better.

How safe is the S.211 jet flight in Munich?

As safe as we can possibly make it: professional pilots, strict maintenance standards – and MiGFlug’s company-wide record of zero incidents across more than 20 years and over 10,000 flights. On top of that, there is insurance coverage at aircraft level (which includes you as a passenger) as well as best-possible third-party liability coverage at company level. We are proud to say that none of these insurers has ever heard from us since 2004.

Is the Munich jet flight for real, and are there reviews?

Completely real – an actual military jet trainer, not a simulator. MiGFlug has arranged jet flights since 2004; see the independent reviews on Google (5.0), Trustpilot (4.8) and Tripadvisor (4.9) or our testimonials page, and ask us for reference customers anytime.

Your Flight Day

How long does an S.211 jet flight experience near Munich take?

The flight is whichever package you choose above – 45 minutes including a flight into the Alps, or 65 minutes adding advanced tactical flying, military maneuvers and more stick time. Allow about 2.5 to 3 hours on site overall – briefing, gearing up, the flight, and time afterwards for photos and a chat with the pilot.

What does the day of an S.211 jet flight look like?

You meet your pilot at an airfield near Munich, and get to know the S.211 – a jet with exceptional visibility from the rear seat, even on landing. The briefing covers the aircraft systems, the ejection seat, emergency procedures and communication, and it is also where the flight program is tailored to you. The aim is not to demonstrate what the pilot or the jet can do – the aim is for you to have as much fun as possible.

Then you gear up properly: flight suit, anti-G pants, survival vest, helmet, oxygen mask and gloves are all provided. The flight itself can include high-speed low-level flying, low flying in the Alps, and aerobatics with high-G maneuvers in a dedicated military training area – loops with a diameter of 8,000 ft flown at 400 kts, rolls, tight turns, split-S, Immelmann, simulated ground attacks, break patterns and low passes. Back on the ground there is time for photos and a debrief with your pilot. An optional flight video package – even in 360° – is available.

Should I arrive before my booked S.211 flight time?

Your booking time is when you arrive and meet the pilot, not the take-off time, so there's no need to come earlier. Just leave a margin for traffic so you arrive relaxed.

How much does it cost to fly a jet near Munich?

Jet flights near Munich start from 3.850 € for 30 minutes, 4.700 € for 45 minutes including the Alps, and 5.950 € for the 65-minute tactical program – see the packages.

Is there a refundable booking option?

Yes – it can be added during the checkout process.

How many flights can be done per day near Munich?

Up to five flights per day. Groups are very welcome: the briefing happens together, the flying one at a time, and spectators experience the jet from close range.

Gift

Can I give an S.211 jet flight near Munich as a gift?

Yes. An S.211 gift voucher is open-dated (and can even be open-location), arrives as an instant printable certificate, and fixes today's price - nothing is sent to the recipient, so the surprise stays with you.

Do you have something to hand over for the Munich jet gift?

Yes: a free personalized gift voucher, printable right away. You can also order a handcrafted, handpainted model of the jet – each one handmade in Ukraine and shipped directly – or a Swiss watch created with Maurice de Mauriac including an engraving of the flight details (here). Both can be added directly after booking.

What if the recipient would prefer another flight?

Easy – we change it free of charge. Book the flight you think works; if the lucky person has other plans, one message is enough.
