Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I fly a fighter jet?
MiGFlug offers fighter jet flights at 15 locations in 10 countries: the USA (Los Angeles, Tampa, the Kennedy Space Center and Texas), Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Australia and New Zealand. The MiGFlug flight map shows every location, and each pin links to the jet, prices and dates for that location.
Which jets can I fly with MiGFlug?
The L-39 Albatros is the jet flown at most MiGFlug locations. The other jets are the MiG-15 (Czech Republic), the S.211 (near Munich), the MB-326 (Reggio Emilia, Italy), the T-33 Shooting Star (Canada), the de Havilland Vampire (United Kingdom) and the supersonic F-104 Starfighter (Kennedy Space Center, Florida). The jet finder and the comparison tool help you choose.
Do I need a pilot’s licence to fly a fighter jet?
No, except for the F-104 Starfighter. For every other MiGFlug flight no flying experience is required: you are briefed on the ground, fly with an experienced pilot who stays in contact with you over the intercom, and can take the controls in the air under the pilot’s supervision. The supersonic F-104 Starfighter flight at the Kennedy Space Center is reserved for licensed pilots.
Can I fly a fighter jet in the USA?
Yes. MiGFlug offers L-39 Albatros flights in Los Angeles, Tampa (Florida) and Texas, and F-104 Starfighter flights at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The L-39 flights need no flying experience; the supersonic F-104 flight is reserved for licensed pilots. In neighbouring Canada, MiGFlug flies the T-33 Shooting Star from Waterloo, near Toronto.
Where can I fly a fighter jet in Europe?
MiGFlug offers fighter jet flights at eight locations in Europe: the de Havilland Vampire in the United Kingdom, the S.211 near Munich in Germany, the MiG-15 in Hradec Králové in the Czech Republic, the MB-326 in Reggio Emilia in Italy, and the L-39 Albatros in Sion (Switzerland), Aosta (Italy), Brno (Czech Republic) and Riga (Latvia).
Can I fly a fighter jet in Australia or New Zealand?
Yes. MiGFlug offers L-39 Albatros flights from Shellharbour Airport on the New South Wales South Coast, south of Sydney, and from Tauranga in New Zealand’s Bay of Plenty. They are the only two MiGFlug locations in the Southern Hemisphere.
Can you still fly a MiG-29 in Russia?
No. MiGFlug no longer offers MiG-29 Fulcrum flights in Russia, and the Hawker Hunter flight in Switzerland has also been discontinued. The Soviet-designed jet you can still fly with MiGFlug is the MiG-15 in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic, and the Czech-built L-39 Albatros, flown at most MiGFlug locations, was the standard jet trainer of most Warsaw Pact air forces.
Is there an age limit for a fighter jet flight?
At most MiGFlug locations there is no formal age limit. In the United Kingdom the minimum age is 18; elsewhere it depends on the guest’s development and height, and as a rule of thumb guests should be around 14 or older, with parental consent below 18. There is no upper age limit as long as you are in reasonable general health.
