The story behind the numbers

No fighter in history has a record like the Eagle’s: 104 credited air-to-air victories — and not one F-15 ever lost in air-to-air combat, in fifty years and five air forces. Israeli Eagles opened the account over Lebanon, culminating in the 1982 Bekaa Valley battles where Syrian MiGs fell by the dozen; Saudi and US Eagles added Iranian, Iraqi and Serbian kills.

The 1990s USAF liked to say the F-15’s real weapon was the whole system around it — AWACS, training, Sparrow and AMRAAM — and the Bekaa proved the point at scale: technology plus doctrine equals a shutout. The undefeated champion of air combat, and the standard every 4th-generation fighter chased.

During Operation Mole Cricket 19 (June 1982), Israeli F-15s and F-16s destroyed dozens of Syrian aircraft over the Bekaa Valley without loss.

Campaign by campaign

Years Campaign Operator Victories A2A losses What happened
1979–82 Israeli ops (Bekaa Valley) Israel 56 0 Over half of all F-15 kills — mostly Syrian MiGs; peak during Operation Mole Cricket 19 (1982).
1991 Gulf War USAF 34 0 The bulk of coalition air-to-air victories in Desert Storm.
1984–99 Other USAF / Saudi USA / Saudi 14 0 Includes Saudi F-15s downing 2 Iranian F-4Es (1984) and Balkans/no-fly-zone kills.
How we count. Victories are credits recognised by the operating air force, cross-checked against opposing loss records where they exist. Where wartime credits and postwar research genuinely disagree we show the range, not a single number. Friendly-fire and accident losses are not counted as air-to-air losses.
