Parabolic Flight – Experience Total Weightlessness

The images of floating astronauts in total weightlessness fascinate everybody. This pleasure of weightlessness isn’t only possible on the international space station ISS, but also far lower – with a parabolic flight onboard a modified Boeing 727 in the United States.

How Does Weightlessness during a Parabolic Flight Work?

How can weightlessness be achieved? Parabolic flight is an aerobatic maneuver that our customers can also request during our fighter jet flights. Only a small parabola is possible there, and you can only “float” within the constraints of your seat belts.

In the much larger Boeing 727 in the US and the Il-76 in Russia, it works like this: The pilot first gathers momentum and then starts a rapid ascent, which results in a force about twice the normal gravitational force of the earth. Afterwards, the pilot pushes the controls forward, so that the aircraft follows a parabolic trajectory and eventually ends up in a steep dive. During this phase, the pilot can achieve the required weightlessness by monitoring a G-sensor. One phase of weightlessness lasts about 25 to a maximum of 30 seconds.

In this manner, zero-G parabolic flights are flown. Apart from total weightlessness, a few parabolas are also flown with the same gravitational pull as the moon, i.e. about 1/6th G.

Experience Total Weightlessness – Zero-G

We’d love to organize a Zero Gravity flight for you. ZeroG flights in the USA start from different Zero Gravity flight locations, at specific flight dates. Primary Zero Gravity flight locations are Cape Canaveral FL, Las Vegas NV, and San Francisco CA. But Weightlessness flights also start from Austin TX, Dallas TX, Atlanta GA, Chicago IL, New York NY and Washington DC.

FAQ: Zero Gravity Flights in the USA

Are zero gravity flights currently available?

Zero gravity flights are currently on hold. You are welcome to contact us anyway – we will gladly keep you posted and let you know as soon as new dates are available.

What is the Zero Gravity flight experience?

It's true weightlessness aboard a specially configured Boeing 727. The aircraft flies a series of parabolic arcs, and at the top of each one you float completely free - the same kind of flight astronauts train in.

Where can I do a Zero Gravity flight in the USA?

In several US cities, including Cape Canaveral (FL), Las Vegas (NV), San Francisco (CA), Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago, New York and Washington DC.

Will I really float in zero gravity, and for how long?

Yes. Each parabola gives you around 25 to 30 seconds of genuine weightlessness, and the flight includes multiple parabolas. Some arcs also recreate lunar gravity (about one-sixth of Earth's), so you can bound around as if on the Moon.

Do I need any training or experience for a Zero Gravity flight?

None at all. The Zero Gravity experience is open to almost anyone in good health - you simply follow the crew's guidance, and the parabolas build up gradually so you can settle in.

Am I fit and healthy enough for a Zero Gravity flight?

You just need to be in reasonable general health. If you have any specific medical concerns, check with your doctor first, and get in touch with us if you're unsure whether it's right for you.

Can I do a Zero Gravity flight as a group?

Yes - group packages are available for anywhere from 1 to 36 people, including full-aircraft charters, which makes it popular for special occasions and corporate events.

How long does the Zero Gravity experience take?

Plan to spend a few hours on site in total, including check-in, a pre-flight briefing, the parabolic flight itself, and time afterwards. We'll confirm the schedule for your chosen city when you book.

How do I check availability for a Zero Gravity flight?

Available dates and cities are shown on our booking page - choose a specific date, or book an open date and schedule later. Popular dates fill first, so the earlier you book the better.

Can I give a Zero Gravity flight as a gift?

Absolutely. A Zero Gravity gift voucher is open-dated, comes as an instant printable certificate, and fixes today's price - nothing is sent to the recipient, so the surprise stays entirely with you.
