What is the oldest military display team still flying?
Of the teams still flying, the oldest by founding year are the Blue Angels (United States, 1946), the Smoke Squadron (Brazil, 1952), the Black Eagles (South Korea, 1953).
How many military display teams are there?
The Order of Battle lists 115 military display teams from 53 countries, of which 69 are active today. The list includes formation aerobatic teams, solo jet displays and helicopter teams, and the famous teams of the past such as the Black Arrows and the Blue Diamonds.
Which display teams fly jets?
Most of the big national teams do: the Red Arrows fly the BAE Hawk, the Patrouille de France the Alpha Jet, the Frecce Tricolori the MB-339, the Blue Angels the F/A-18 Super Hornet, the Thunderbirds the F-16 and the Russian Knights the Su-35S and Su-30SM. The Patrouille Suisse flies the F-5E Tiger II until the type retires at the end of 2027.
Can I fly in a military display team jet?
Not with a military team. But you can fly a genuine former military jet yourself: MiGFlug offers jet flights in aircraft such as the L-39 Albatros, the trainer several display teams have flown, with aerobatics and time on the controls.
