Hi Philipp ,
It was an amazing experience flying the MiG-21, great machine!
Thanks for arranging everything.

Thanks to you, I had the privilege to live the best experience an aviation fan can dream of: Flying supersonic on an iconic fighter, the MiG-21!!!

The Supersonic Flight is probably the most exhilarating experience on Earth. The entire experience was beyond thrilling.
Not ready for Mach 1.3?
Fly a fighter jet from USD 3,500. No sound barrier, same adrenaline.
Get to know the MiG-21
More than 11,400 MiG-21s were built, making it the most produced supersonic jet in history. Explore what's under the skin, from the shock cone intake to the afterburning turbojet that takes you past Mach 1. The blueprint shows the single-seat fighter; you fly in the two-seat trainer version.

Shock Cone Intake
The signature nose cone isn't just iconic — it's functional. A translating centerbody automatically optimizes airflow to the engine across the speed range, enabling stable thrust from taxi all the way through Mach 2.
Tandem Cockpit
This cutaway shows the single-seat variant. The version you'll fly features a tandem two-seat cockpit: you sit directly behind the pilot with a full set of flight instruments and an unobstructed forward view through the framed canopy.
Zero-Zero Ejection Seat
Both crew positions are equipped with zero-zero ejection seats, capable of safe extraction at any altitude and any airspeed — including standing still on the runway. Your safety is engineered into the airframe.
Tumansky Afterburning Turbojet
With 97 kN of thrust in full afterburner, the Tumansky R-25 catapults the MiG-21 past Mach 2 and delivers a raw, visceral acceleration that modern turbofans simply cannot replicate. Expect to feel every newton.
Tailed Delta Wing
The 57° swept delta keeps the wing inside the Mach cone at supersonic speeds while providing a surprisingly large fuel volume. Combined with the all-moving tailplane, it gives the MiG-21 crisp, fighter-like handling at every speed.
External Hardpoints
Four underwing pylons carried everything from R-3S infrared-guided missiles and UB-16 rocket pods to a 490-litre centerline drop tank — a testament to the MiG-21's versatility as both interceptor and ground-attack platform.

Questions & Answers
Who is this for?
Anyone who wants to fly faster than sound. You don’t need to be a pilot: ground school prepares you, and a professional fighter pilot is with you in the cockpit for the whole flight. And you can even control this supersonic jet yourself!
Why is this so expensive?
The MiG-21 is today the only way for a civilian without a pilot license to break the sound barrier today. Worldwide. You fly a Cold War interceptor with a professional fighter pilot over international waters in the Gulf of Mexico. Supersonic flying will be done over international waters. Operating a supersonic jet costs far more than any other jet experience: Massively increased fuel consumption with the afterburner, spare parts, maintenance, and insurance.
The jet is likely available only for a few months before it goes to adversary training, so available slots are limited. The price includes ground school, all equipment, 40 minutes of flight time, and your Supersonic Certificate.
Too expensive? Subsonic jet flights are a ton of fun, starting at USD 3,200 and €2,850. Discover all flights here.
How long will these flights be available?
The aircraft is planned to be contracted for adversary training. Once this contract is in force, civilian flights in this MiG-21 will stop. We expect flights to be available for a few months before the supersonic window closes again, likely forever.
What is included in the flight program?
- Breaking the sound barrier, typically up to Mach 1.3 (1,000 mph)
- Aerobatics: rolls, slow flight, stalls, steep turns and more
- Stick time: you fly the jet yourself
- Altitude up to 28,000 ft
- Ground school, all equipment and your Supersonic Certificate
In short: a ton of fun!
What’s the booking process?
- Choose your flight date: Select your preferred date and secure your seat with a USD 5,000 deposit by credit card. Flights are available daily except Monday.
- Confirmation: Our booking team will contact you to confirm your flight date and details.
- Complete your payment: Transfer the remaining balance by wire transfer at least 7 days before the flight, or bring a certified check.
- Get ready to fly: Your pilot and crew will be waiting for you at the airfield.
Where do the flights take off from?
Flights take place in Florida, over the Gulf of Mexico, where supersonic flight is allowed above international waters. The exact airfield depends on your flight date and will be confirmed once your date is set.
What’s the top speed?
The MiG-21 has a top speed of 2,175 km/h (1,350 mph). The Florida flights typically reach Mach 1.3 (1,600 km/h or 1,000 mph).
Can I get photos and a video of my flight?
Yes, a flight video package is available. You can also take photos on the ground.
I have a friend who’d like to fly. Can they sign up?
Yes. Because seats are limited, you can book a maximum of two flights.
Can I talk to someone before booking?
Of course! We are happy to help.

Who stands behind this offer?
Brought to you by MiGFlug.com, experts in military fighter jet experiences since 2003.
Can you tell me more about the MiG-21?
The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21, NATO designation “Fishbed”, is a Soviet supersonic fighter and interceptor from the Cold War. Its radical design turns it into a missile with a cockpit. More than 11,400 MiG-21s were built, making it the most produced supersonic jet ever. It has been flown by [over 60 air forces], including Finland’s, saw action in the Vietnam War and is still in service today.
The Finnish Air Force Museum puts it this way: “Finnish pilots found the performance and flight characteristics of the MiG-21 excellent.”
You can learn more about the MiG-21 here: MiG-21.
Is there another supersonic flight?
Nope. The MiG-21 Fishbed in Florida is the only place enabling civilians to break the sound barrier.
What supersonic flights were available in the past?
What aircraft models were available for flights?
In the past, MiGFlug offered supersonic flights in the MiG-21, MiG-23, MiG-25, MiG-29, MiG-31, Sukhoi Su-27 Flanker and English Electric Lightning. With Air France and British Airways, you could fly on Concorde. That’s 8 aircraft to choose from. Yes, those were the days...
Are there lower-priced options available?
Yes, there are options to fly a fighter jet for as low as USD 3,500.00, although these don't reach supersonic speeds. Check out our locations around the world here.
